About the Betta Addict

I've suffered from MTS (More Tank Syndrome) for my entire life, not just with bettas, but ball pythons as well.  Although some would say my husband suffers from my condition more than I do.

Right now I've got 5 gorgeous bettas, a beautiful ball python, and an adorable little mantis.

And a partridge in a pear tree.

I'm a 31-year-old homeschool teacher living in Las Vegas, NV with my husband and our daughter.  I'm also a part time life coach working exclusively with men, primarily those who struggle with their sexuality, with their masculinity in regards to their identity, and victims of rape, assault, abuse, and domestic violence.

My life's calling is to educate people.

I educate my daughter instead of trusting her to the worst public school system in the country.

I educate my clients, with the help of licensed psychologists and psychiatrists, about how to cope with the terrible things they've faced.

I educate the public about the realities that male victims of abuse, rape, and domestic violence face, and the lack of resources available to them.  As a rape survivor, myself, I could not imagine going through what I went through without the resources and support systems available to me.  I took them for granted.  Men don't have that luxury.

I educate the public about the realities of ethical polyamory, about what it takes to maintain a polyamorous relationship and keep everyone feeling fulfilled.  I educate the public about just how difficult it is to be honest enough to make this kind of relationship work.  We never realize how much we lie and how much we don't say until we find ourselves in a situation where we need to say it.  We say we're fine when we're not.  We don't voice our fears and concerns.  I educate the public about how polyamory is a viable alternative for some empathetic, emotionally intelligent, and selfless individuals who may want to try it.

I educate the public on animal ownership.  I have owned horses, iguanas, dogs, cats, a desert tortoise, rats, rabbits, a duck, snakes, fish, insects, and birds.  I am an animal lover at heart, and it hurts my heart to see all these animals abandoned or neglected because their owners do not understand their care.  This is an attempt to educate those who are interested on how to properly care for the animals I happen to know a lot about.

I am not a veterinarian and I do not call myself an expert.  I am merely an experienced owner.  Please take all information and advice I give as that of an experienced owner, and not as that of a licensed professional.

One of my favorite sites, that offers a lot of information on bettas and other fish, is fishlore.com.  I definitely recommend checking it out.
